BIO

  1. Name

    • Mr. Dunbar

  2. Current Position

    • I am a resources teacher at Carson High School. I provide push in support to students, have learning center classes, and am an IEP case carrier.
  3. Education

    • I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and a minor in History from California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH). Additionally, I earned an Associate of Arts degree from El Camino College. My diverse academic background equips me with a strong foundation in analytical thinking, organizational skills, and a deep appreciation for historical contexts, which I bring to my teaching to inspire and engage students.

  4. Hobbies & Interests

    • As a special education teacher with a passion for engaging activities, I find joy in a variety of hobbies that enrich my life and complement my professional dedication. Scuba diving allows me to explore the underwater world, fostering a sense of adventure and tranquility. Working out, particularly through rowing and strength training, keeps me energized and supports my active lifestyle. Cooking is a creative outlet where I experiment with new recipes, often sharing meals with friends and family. Most cherished is playing with my dog, Daisy, whose playful spirit brings daily laughter and warmth to my home.

  5. Why I Became a Teacher

    • Having grown up in special education, I deeply understand the challenges and triumphs of my students, inspiring me to become a special education teacher. After pursuing accounting and finding it unfulfilling due to its lack of impact on others, I turned to teaching, where I find joy in the fun stories students share and the chance to help them master new concepts, even when they find math difficult. I hope my students develop an appreciation for hard work, dedication, and the two rules I emphasize: respect yourself and respect others, fostering skills and values that extend beyond the classroom.
